Game Development at TIGJam Midwest
Posted by: admin
We had the pleasure of hosting TIGJam Midwest for 48 hours of nonstop game development June 4-6. Along with other members of the Iowa Game-Dev Friendship Club, Josh Larson of Intuition Games planned this event where developers and artists from around the state (and even Canada) worked in teams to develop new games around a theme. This year's theme was "proverbs" and produced a wide array of games. After working on their projects at Foundry Coworking, everyone headed over to Impromptu Studio for a fun "show and tell". Checkout the following coverage of the event (thanks to Ben McDougal of Gathering of Gamers). Also, thanks to Navaboo on Flickr for taking these great photos.

Startup Drinks Des Moines Kicks Off
Posted by: Alexander
As Des Moines' startup scene continues to grow, it's great to see events pop up to provide informal opportunities to build relationships and meet new people. Startup Drinks has been a growing movement of cities across the nation organizing low-key "happy hours" for the local startup scene.
Geoff Wood of Silicon Prairie News and Shane Reiser of Startup Weekend were kind enough to work with Foundry Coworking to launch Startup Drinks Des Moines on Tuesday, March 23rd at Tally's rooftop bar in Beaverdale. It was a great turnout of local startup enthusiasts and talent and we're looking forward to seeing it grow every fourth Tuesday of the month, at Tally's.
We can't forget to thank KerberTech for sponsoring the event and buying everyone's first drink! See you next month.
Be sure to keep an eye on Startup Drinks Des Moines to get the latest info on future events.

Foundry Coworking Holds Open House
Posted by: Alexander
We finally held our first open house last Friday and believe it was a resounding success! A great turnout of friends, clients, and colleagues packed Foundry Coworking and were treated with amazing beer from Olde Main Brewing Company (big thanks for their generous donation) and some tasty food. We must thank Eliason Media, however, for sponsoring the event and contributing so much to our community of innovators and creatives. After hearing back from so many attendees, we're going to start having these more frequently. Look out for an announcement of an April happy hour sometime soon.
