Geoff Wood Featured in Juice Magazine
Posted by: Alexander
Our fellow coworker, Geoff Wood, was recently featured in Des Moines' Juice magazine. Geoff does a great job highlighting Des Moines' innovation "scene", his work over at Silicon Prairie News, and his new startup called Volunteer Local. It's a real pleasure getting to work around Geoff and look forward to more success for him in the future.

We've been open for a while now, but hadn't posted photos of Foundry Coworking after construction was done. Here you go...

Dwolla Launches at Foundry Coworking
Posted by: Alexander
We are very excited to wish our friends and fellow coworkers, Dwolla, a huge congratulations on their successful launch. Dwolla is an innovative web payment system that has a very bright future. They were featured on the front page of the Des Moines Register yesterday in a great article by Brianne Sanchez.
Looking forward to seeing these guys climb to new heights. Congratulations!

So much has gotten done over the last few weeks. We're getting closer all the time and think things are looking pretty great! All that's left to do is to install the trim, hang the doors, seal the floor, and roll in the furniture.

Construction is Almost Done
Posted by: Alexander
After months of anticipation and speculation, Foundry Coworking is almost complete. Our crews have been hard at work framing walls, installing electrical components, adjusting air vents, etc.
As you can see from the pictures, there has been quite a dramatic change in the look of our space and we can proudly say we will be open in October!
Look for more updates this week after painting is complete and Foundry Coworking begins life next month in the Western Gateway of downtown Des Moines.
Meeting the Iowa Society of Professional Journalists
Posted by: Alexander
I was very fortunate to be able to speak at the Iowa Society of Professional Journalists freelance summit on Saturday morning. It was refreshing to see 30-some great freelance journalists actively looking to connect to others and better their profession. Big thanks to Marie Elizabeth Oliver for allowing me to talk about coworking in Des Moines and learn more about the organization. Here are more photos from the event.

We wanted to give everyone a sneak peak of the space and how we're going to lay things out. The image below is a 3-D view from above. A big thank you to Nicole over at Workspace, Inc and Turnstone for sponsoring Foundry Coworking.
Look for more updates to come as we finish out construction.

Spanish Lessons at Foundry Coworking
Posted by: Alexander
We are pleased to announce our summer intern, Diana Martinez Herrero, has decided to offer an innovative language learning program this summer at Foundry Coworking.
Diana is from Spain and has taught Spanish at Universities and cities in both Europe and the US. The classes are limited to 8 people who will converse and learn the language in as an immersive experience; research noting that this is the best way to learn.

We will post details here on our blog as we get them. In the meantime, sign up for our newsletter, check out our photos on flickr and friend us up on Twitter (@foundrycowork)
